Description

This is a portrait of an old character I made time ago, Jorde.

I apologize if the colors are very bad, I painted it on a laptop. -_- Luckily I'm gonna buy a LCD soon. But let me know if you see him more yellow or more green. :p

Thanks for looking!

Colours are good to me, so as the entire piece, my greetings and Happy Holidays!

The perspective in the face is a bit off, his right eye must be a bit higher to fit the eye perspective line, also the hair needs some extra attention.
Technically good painting of the skin and the colors are well chosen.
Sorry to say, but I think you can do better..:(
I love your funny stuff!

Diegoth: Happy Holidays to you too. :)
Rafsan :I appriciate your honesty. I tried rising his eye a little. What do you think?

I think a bit to little, to me the eye to eye line must be the same as the mouth line...when you cover the top you see great perspective, when you cover bottom, there's also great perspective, but together it doesn't seems to work. And I think it is the position of the eyes.

This is an amazingly good painting, where the character looks very alive. Especially the eyes are lifelike. You did a good job making his skin look rougher and more 'unclean' than in many fantasy paintings, and thus it becomes more realistic. But the wrinkles on his forhead should have a darker shadow by them too, not only the highlighted line. Now it looks just painted-on. Also, the perspective on his lower lip looks slightly wrong, like we see it too much from the front. Finally, maybe you could have given his lips a more fresh and glossy look? Not much, just enough to wet them a little.
And as requested, I'll tell you that his cheeks have a slightly green colour too them. I don't know if that's what you wanted?

Great work!

great work :). I mostly agree with Rafsan but I saw the 'step by step' progress and in the beginning sketch everything was ok I think. This little 'problem' appeared during painting. But it is very little :)
And does he have Powernemo's eyes? ;)

Rafsan: I see what you mean now. Thanks for the feedback! I've uploaded the edited version, and I think I'll keep it like this. but I will do better next time! :)

Jane: Thank you! You always have a great eye to details. ;) I'll keep them in mind. So the skin has green tones you say? Darn... on my pc the skin has a soft pink/yellow tone. :(

Pawlack: Lol. Actually I used a picture of joaquin Phoenix as a reference. (Link).
Maybe I focused too much on the ref instead of my own painting, and this made me screw up.
(Btw Nemo's eyes are prettier. ;) )

I like the hair's color, I don't know if you intended it to be green but I like it.
the left cheeck is too curved toward the inside of the face, it makes him look skinny. the cheek should also bulge outwards just at the same level as the mouth and right over the chin.
very lovely work btw :)! +9

It's difficult for me to explain with words so I took the liberty to show you what I mean.

A few minor flaws, but isn't that how real people look? It's nice to see a fantasy guy that actually looks male;) To me the hair looks a little on the green side which throws the face a tad on the yellow side, LOL!

interesting image and the face is powerful.+10:)

Crazyboy: I didn't think about that! It's funny how much impact a little bulge can have on your entire artwork. I guess I'll do a little more work on his face and fix that. Thanks a lot!

Albtraum: Flaws just make a portrait look more real and more human. (If the flaws was placed there on purpose, i mean... :p )

Thanks everyone for the great constructive comments! :)

I agree with the other comments... the right eye should be a bit higher
I think the colours are awesome, and those eyes are piercing!

It's not really a bad thing that his skin has a green tone to it. The rest of the painting has it too, so it fits. Besides, you get this mystique fantasy feeling... ;)

Excellent work amore!
I think that the texturing level in this one is simply amazing and realistic! Even if you painted on a laptop i can see the colors are very very good. I would have putted just a little more effort on the hairs rendering cause they a little inconsistent with the high definition of the skin... but ... i know you :p

Eyes are fantastic!
