Description

I've never used so much effort on an artwork in my life! And even if there is a lot of things I could have done better, I feel it's the most complete work I've ever made.
I've been going on and off on this for about 2 months. Struggeling especially with colors (since I painted it on a laptop). At one point I almost gave up cause they looked so bad... But I must admit that I'm proud of my patience.^^

Painted in Photoshop, Wacom. Original size was 6000 x 10700pix. No references, except for the flowers.

Please look the details and you will make a struggeling soul happy!

Details.
Before color edition. (lap top screens are evil).
Slightly color edited.

Thanks for looking. All comments are very appriciated. :)

Excellent work my love! I think this is really a masterpiece from you and all the effort you putted in this one is worth the end result!
I like better this edited color version btw.
You know already what i think about that, maybe I would have changed a little her facial expression/eye position just to avoid that "lost in the void" feel they have.
Amazing textures and details in the background... even if... well you know... i would have removed that bent branch :p (joking)

Keep this way amore !!!
I love you !

Really beautiful work! Something about the ground feels a little precarious to me, though, like she might slip off of it and off the page. Perhaps it's the leaning tree behind her; it seems to throw off the balance of the piece. But the coloring is simply gorgeous. I love the way the lighting falls on her skin, and that dress is just beautifully rendered. Well done. :)

Beautiful work Sandra. The lighting and details are very well done.

wonderful amount of detail. The dress is done very well. All I would say is that bit of grass at teh base of her dress seems a bit rushed...other than that very good work indeed.

Lovely and sweet. The details are remarkable.
The pose reminds me of Jorde and is a little bit stiff. It might have been better to position her more to the right than to the left.
Very good work. :)

Wonderful job with colors!! One small crit, the head seems a tad to big due to the angle. Gorgeous dress! :)

Nemo: But I like that bent branch! I Love you too honni ^_^

Freiz: Thanks for the great comment, I didn't notice that. It's amazing how much value small details can have. I'll keep a better eye on composition next time. :)

ThruMyEyes: Thanks!^^

Andy--Jones: Thank you. I only noticed the poor painting after I edited the colors, and then I was allready frustrated from the whole painting. Next time I will do better!

Thorsten: You are indeed very right. All my paintings tend to turn out rather stiff. I'm working on a more dynamic painting now. :)

Cigaro: Thank you!

Ikaa: I changed the size of the head three times. :p Thanks for your comment. It's the first time I ever painted a dress.

Love the lighting and details. Always been impressed by your work, it really picks up my attention.

The only thing I could think of is if you wanna let the light be a bit brighter.
But that´s just my humble opinion and afterall, I´m not a leading artist like you. ;)

Top work, 9 out of 9 points from me.
Beautiful Sandra. Have a nice day!

great painting!
just one little crit: it would look a bit more balanced if the the low range part of her body ( from the waist down) would be a bit bigger.
I love the mood and accord of colours in your work! my max

Amazing painting, love the dress and background. I think the colours are very nice and this is very well painted. Maybe the pose is a bit strange... don't know.
Overall very realistic, great work +9/9

Wonderful work Sandra! Your hard work paid off! The colours are very beautiful :)
I have 2 minor crits though : the eyes are a little bit too small and too close to each other and the hands and forearm need some more work. Other things already have been mentionned ;)
Very very lovely atmosphere!
+9/10

Thank you so much everyone. I've really got some great constructive hints, and I'm grateful for that. :)

Ryan: Light and shading is really something I need to work on. Have a nice day you too!

Beatrizmatar: Thank you!

Lolita: Thanks or your thoughts. I will keep them in mind next time I paint a dress. (wich actually is harder than it looks like.)

vprivat: Thanks my friend. :)

Violentcontact: I'm not sure what you mean with strange. If you mean it's stiff, then I agree. The pose was never really planned from the start, it just became like this while painting. :p

Daykan: Thanks!

Leloops: Lol

rafomundo: Thanks to you too.

Diane: I agree. There's a lot I could have changed in this picture. : But thanks! :)

well, I mean it could be more "lively", with a different expression, but just my personal taste I think. But as I said, my max to this painting, is wonderful!
I really like atmosphere of your latest paintings

It reminds me a lot of Jorde, the colors and pose, like thorsten mentionned.
I think she's one fold of the dress too tall.

The background and the flowers in foreground are ansolutely A W E S O M E.
I really like the tree right behind her, very well done.

I think she has a blasé expression, and seems to be gazing into nothingness. I agree with Diane about the eyes too. and one last crit would be that her skin is a little overly textured, almost like she had greasy skin.

I have to say that the rays of light coming through the foliage are amazingly well done. The lighting on the dress is well done as well, and the yellow daisies are very beautiful !

I've just looked at how the colors were before and I must say you made a very good job at color corrections, it looks lovely now.

ViolentContact: Yes I agree. I'm gonna work harder on making my paintings more alive. :)

Crazyboy: Oh thank you. I spent a good amount of time working on the colors. I just opened my eyes towards texturing, and I find it very funny, perhaps a little too funny. :p

Great sense of movement that you've created with the rays of light guiding you through your painting. It's very soft and exotic at the same time. I really enjoy how still it fills and yet you know it's full of life! +10

Lovely work, Sandra :)
I have nothing else to add, others have said it all... her expression is a bit flat and lacking emotional, but there's also something very classic that I like about it (as well as her whole figure and outfit). Colours are just enchanting!

Laptops are evil >[

You get a +6/7 from me ;)

What? Didn't I comment on this already? Sorry about the delay! I thought I had already. :p

You sure did a good job with this one! The first impression is stunning, and the colours are beautiful! Concidering that this was made with a laptop, it's extra good. ;) Her dress is very nice, and the translucent parts of it are very well painted. The nature behind her is, well, gorgeous, especially the sun beams shining through the leaves. It's all both mystical and magical!
Her face is lovely when viewn as a full scaled detail. But in the resized version, it looks kind of round, like a ball. I think you could have defined the shape of her cheeks a bit more. Also, the head seems to be placed too far in front of the neck, if you see what I mean. It should be 'pushed back' a little. Now, I know you had a lot of trouble with that head, and it's really the only thing pulling the pic down, since it shows a lot. And that's too bad, because a painting like this would be outstanding if it wasn't for that little anatomy flaw! Can't you fix it? I know you can if you have the will to edit a so finished painting. ;)
By the way, the flowers by her ear is a nice detail.

Er dette nok en gjennombruddstegning, tro? ;)

Thanks Jane! I see what you mean. In fact it was even rounder and more "sticking out" than this. But I changed it. I guess I should have changed it more - but I won't. :p I am really bored of it, but at least I've gained some more experience for my next artworks. ;)
Thanks for the in-depth comment Jane! :)

Everything seems already said here..very nice work on the figure, I wonder what she's thinking, she doesn't seems quiet happy, but sh'es holding flowers like she's going to marry? I like her hair and the flowers in her hair very much.
Next time try atmospheric perspective and cooler tones on the background and more saturated colors in front, now the whole painting has the same colortones.
Your very much improving , can't wait to see your next!

Quite nice, there's a nice balance between detail and sketchiness - which merely seems to accentuate the detail, and ultimately the focus of the piece (as most of the sketchiness is in the backdrop). There's something oddly amusing about her grim expression, it contradicts her superficial appearance of symbolic joy, adding a nice depth to the concepts behind the piece.
